GOT SOME QUESTIONS?

RPG Taverns aims to deliver something special, and we know that everyone will have a fantastic night playing D&D with us.

However, we appreciate that you might have some questions.

We've got answers to some of those below, but email us on info@rpgtaverns.com and we'll give you all the information we can before you visit.

  • What is Dungeons & Dragons?
The core of Dungeons & Dragons is collaborative storytelling. You and the other players in the room are working together to tell a story, guiding your heroes through quests for treasure, battles with deadly foes, daring rescues, courtly intrigue, and much more.
  • I have never played D&D before, is that ok?
Of course it is! Our Game Masters specialise in introducing the game to new people. You’ll arrive a little earlier to your first session to create your character, and then you will start playing your session.
  • How much time do I need to play?
One of the toughest parts of Dungeons & Dragons is finding the time to play. At RPG Taverns, there’s no punishment for not being available occasionally! We even have a custom Guild System that lets your character stay busy in between adventures, earning gold and other cool stuff in the process!
  • What is Drop-in & Drop-Out?
Think of it as an epic fantasy novel. Each session is like a chapter, and your character doesn't have to be on every page. Have fun, battle monsters, and immerse yourself in our world for an evening, and at the end of the night, you'll be welcomed back with open arms whenever is convenient to you! Flexibility is key - you can return whenever you like. The world lives on whether you’re here or not, although you will be missed. Your character can continue to participate in the Guild System and interact with the wider community through our Discord while you are away. Then when you come back, your character may not have levelled up, but they will have grown with the game!
  • What is Character Creation?
Every players journey begins with Character Creation! When you arrive, our Tavern Master is the first face you'll see, and they'll help you create your first character for RPG Taverns' D&D Shared World. Character Creation consists of introducing you to the world, the player guidelines that are central to our safety promise, and then following our instructions as we guide you through the D&D Beyond App. By the end of it all, you'll join our campaign and create a character ready to adventure in our world.
  • Can I only play Dungeons & Dragons at RPG Taverns?
We started by bringing D&D to a wonderful community of open-minded, diverse players. Thanks to your support, we are now beginning to offer indie games such as Blood on the Clocktower, Blades in the Dark, Call of Cthulu and more!
  • Where does RPG Taverns source its artwork?
Whilst we’re starting up we may have to use AI generated images for our world but we’re actively looking for high fantasy artists to work with and champion on our social media. If you would like to get involved, please email us at info@rpgtaverns.com
  • What is your refund policy?
At RPG Taverns, we're committed to creating unforgettable experiences for our community. We understand, however, that sometimes plans change. While all ticket purchases are final and can't be refunded, we offer a flexible alternative. If you find yourself unable to attend an event, you have the opportunity to trade your ticket with someone in our community via the RPG Taverns Discord channel. If you don’t already have access to the discord server and would like guidance on how to trade tickets, please email us on info@rpgtaverns.com with your ticket receipt. From there, we will then add you to the channel so that you may trade your ticket.
  • How can I leave feedback?
We welcome the thoughts and opinions of our community, as we're always looking for ways to improve! If you have feedback for our team, please find the form here and let us know what you think: https://forms.gle/HUiuUxHKJ8894ATf9
  • Are children able to participate?
Unfortunately, we are currently a child-free venue; all our sessions are designed for adults and as a pub, most players drink throughout the session. However if you're interested in private events please contact us on the details in the footer of the website.
  • Do you offer corporate bookings?
Please contact us directly to discuss your needs, details in the footer of the website.
  • When can I do my first session?
You can join the world of RPG Taverns whenever you want! Our D&D all takes place in a living world that you can join at any point. We operate a drop in/drop out system, which means you can come as little or as often as you like, and still get a great experience.
  • What happens in my first session?
The experience begins with Character Creation, where you craft your adventurer for our world. Every player must start with Character Creation at level 1, so you will be building a character from scratch in our campaigns. You will then be able to choose between various tables and Game Masters to find the adventure that suits you best for the evening. We supply dice and minis, but you're welcome to bring your own if you prefer. We have a fully stocked bar and table service, and you can order hot food to your table while you're playing.
  • What is the Fellowship Fund?
The Fellowship Fund is a community-supported initiative designed to ensure that anyone interested in participating in our games can do so, regardless of financial ability. The fund provides tickets to those who may not be able to afford the full cost.
  • Why does the Fellowship Fund exist?
We believe that gaming should be accessible to everyone. The Fellowship Fund helps us uphold this principle by subsidising the cost of participation for players who need financial support.
  • How can I contribute to the Fellowship Fund?
You can make a difference by making contributions in increments of £2, £5, £7.50, or £15. Every contribution helps ensure that all players have the opportunity to join without financial barriers. To contribute, make a purchase here.
  • How much do tickets cost, and how does the Fellowship Fund cover them?
Each ticket to participate costs £15. The Fellowship Fund uses contributions to cover the full or partial cost of tickets for applicants who require financial assistance.
  • What happens to excess funds in the Fellowship Fund?
Any excess funds collected through the Fellowship Fund are donated to Game Therapy UK each quarter. These contributions support their mission to use therapeutic gaming to help socially isolated groups.
  • How can someone apply for assistance from the Fellowship Fund?
To apply for assistance from the Fellowship Fund, please fill out the application form on our website. You will need to provide your email address. Tickets are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis, ensuring fair access to all applicants.
  • How is the Fellowship Fund assistance allocated?
Assistance from the Fellowship Fund operates on a "first-come, first-served" system. When you apply, you are placed in a queue. As soon as enough funds are collected to cover one ticket, the first person in the queue receives assistance and the queue moves up. You'll then be asked if you would like to rejoin the queue. This process ensures everyone has a fair chance to receive support when funds are available and can also step back from the queue whenever they feel it’s right for them. Whether your circumstances have changed or you’d like to give others the opportunity to benefit from the fund.
  • When are funds donated to Game Therapy UK?
We tally the excess funds at the end of each quarter and make a donation to Game Therapy UK. This way, contributions not only support our players but also further the reach of therapeutic gaming across different communities.
